Code Monkey’s excellent Tempest homage Ultra has been updated to include a few bug fixes:
I released the bug fix that I spoke about in the last news article today – along with the changes to the difficulty curve that was also discussed.
There was also a minor change in the way that multi-core CPUs are used within the game. Previously, some multi-core CPUs spread the processing of the game over multiple cores, which in turn caused pretty drastic problems with timing and made the game completely unplayable. Now though, the OS is instructed to run the game’s process on just a single core, thus ironing out those timing problems.
Charlies Games Bullet Candy received a major update yesterday:
Level rollover, complete the game with more than 50 lives remaining to play a second round.Complete the second round with 100 lives or more to play bonus levels.
Bonus levels added in the bonus modes menu when they become unlocked (just reach the first one).
Suicide mode. When in a tight spot you can now blow up your ship at the press of a button, saving your score multiplier and weapon upgrade at the cost of more lives. You’ll need to set the button for this feature in either the keyboard or joystick setup menus.
On-screen multiplier countdown.
Reduced number of kills required for 10x multiplier.
Adjusted enemy hit points and difficulty of some waves.
And finally, Smayds classy Veck is now at 1.5
Veck 1.5 is done and dusted, barring the proper credits for the musician as I don’t know what to call him yet :/
So, there ya go. I’ve yet to try any of the above yet as I’ve been running round like a blue arsed fly juggling around 10 things at once tonight
