Does It Ever End?

I swear this blog has been the kiss of death, I’ve barely managed to get anything done on VI since I decided to keep a record of the final stages of development. Its been almost a month now and I’ve barely had a minute to myself to actually sit down and work on it.

Its not like I haven’t been keeping myself busy, mind - between baby catching his first “keep you up at night” cough and Mrs Bob attending the usual array of hospital appointments, that would usually be more than enough to halt any work, but needs must and I’ve had a myriad of other things to get to grips with in the meantime.

This past week has seen the expected upsurge in competition organisation, with Caff pulling in an extra £1000+ worth of prizes through sponsors who I can’t wait to be able to thank publically for their support, so I’ve been on hand for prize shuffling and finalising the rules - which barring any last minute changes we have to make - are complete.

Squeezed an interview in for Retro Gamer magazine which Caff and Darran of RG sorted out amongst themselves (trust muggins here to be the one who gets lumbered with the Q&A *and* has to send a photo of himself their way too - typically, the only photo I could find was from Coders Workshop last year which Hitm4n took and I would politely describe that as less than flattering). But its great to get the interview as hopefully it’ll mean more people entering the competition, meaning more remakes for all. Which is nice.

Mr Smila is once again attempting to get one of his planned remakes off the ground which I promised to soundtrack on his first attempt - got an email earlier in the week asking for a title theme, so I’ve duly supplied something a little atmospheric as requested. I don’t do “tunes” as GeeKay will testify to (also the reason I asked Gordon would he be kind enough to supply some music for VI), but I do find I can manage “atmospherics” really well - so being asked to provide an ominous science fiction style soundscape was right up my street.

Quite a contrast to the soundtrack I’m working on for Krytens Pi-There remake, which is far more John Carpenter than anything I’ve toyed with before - and possibly a bit too simple for what Mr Smila wants as its to fit with a 2 minute ish intro sequence, but I’ve fired it across all the same and can always rework it if necessary.

So, its on and into May - one month to competition launch, prizes almost all confirmed, rules set and match so maybe, just maybe, I can stop kicking myself over VI and actually crack on with it.

Thats if baby lets me get any sleep that is.
