Ah, so little time to work on VI the past few days with the competition looming ever closer and as usual, loads of last minute tweaks to go through - but that doesn’t mean the world stops! Oh no.

The old sound .dll I was using for the VI music had the unfortunate byproduct of a quite serious memory leak - why choose that one when there’s at least 2 other great .dll’s for intergrating either FMOD or bass into GM? Well, it was a size issue mainly.

Along comes Mr Smayds (always keep a delphi coder handy, chaps!) with a stripped down, bare basics .dll thats tailored to just the stuff I need for VI called “Treble” to make me incredibly happy. Gave it a test run through last night and it works like a dream so, its time to get the music back in and farm the sound effects off to external files also.

Faster loading times? Oh yes.

In other news, been playing the latest Clash N Slash game - Worlds Away after an impulse purchase. A bit more frantic than the original release, yet still strangely calming. Perhaps the only “casual” shooter I’ve really been bothered with for more than 5 seconds. Fairly good fun indeed.

Before I toddle off for a bit, I’d like to thank the2bears for the mention in his blog last week. I’ve been following his blog for quite a while now and its always an enjoyable and informative read - damn near essential for shmup fans too.

Oh, and in case you’ve not noticed - there’s an interview with ickle me in Issue 25 of RetroGamer magazine about the RR Competition :-)
