Beast Invaders 3

Coming complete with the this disclaimer a slightly updated Beast Invaders 3.  Pretty much the same as the one I fired over to Markie but with joystick control back in and the level 2 glitch fixed. Oh, and bonus points for reaching the end of a phase.

Long road to a proper finish I reckon, but for now its complete~ish and done, I’ll discuss the next update in a future post soon enough - for now I’ve got some doodling to be getting on with. I think the official release is later today, so consider this a sneak preview.

oddbob, playing this latest version of beast invaders 3 i have identified what i believe to be a problem. and that is: most enemy bullets are orange. enemy deaths cause the background to glow orange. this means that it can get awfully hard to see where bullets are! i think just changing the color of the bullets so they stand out more would solve this problem!

Cheers dessgeega, I’ve just noticed I’d b0rked the draw order up as well after DDD pointed it out - so I’ve reupped the file with blue bullets and hopefully, they shouldn’t get lost amidst the effects now.

Next stop, tidying the game itself up :-)

    Thanks!

oddbob, I played this at the RV at it was quite excellent. I realise you had one or two problems during the development (to put it mildly) but it was still stonking fun to play. Just out of interest can you tell me which language you developed it in?

Certainly, its all done like the rest of my stuff in Gamemaker (www.yoyogames.com).

There’s a fair bit of stuff in it that doesn’t work with the unregged package, but you’re welcome to have a gander under the bonnet if you want. Its a bit of a mess though after the 48 hour run through to finish - tidiness went right out the window.

Ooooh, thanks for that oddbob. I’d never come across Gamemaker before so i’m currently sucking it down (oo-er) so I can have a looksee.

I’d be really interested at having a gander at BI3’s inner-workings - it could prove a good way to pick up how Gamemaker functions……..Cheers!!!
