That time of the month…

No, I’m not on the rag…although sometimes I wonder. In fact, it’s that time of the month again whereby the internets are once again aflame with the seemingly endless debate of “Are Games Art?”.

This time it’s the turn of Ebert to stir the pot once more with his allegedly controversial view that “no, they’re bloody well not - now fuck off and leave me alone”. I paraphrase, of course. Ignoring the fact that the article in question (that’ll be here, then) appears to be little more than childish belittling of Clive Barker (a noble hobby in itself I might add, as anyone who’s had the displeasure of sitting through Nightbreed will testify) - has there ever been a more tedious debate around games? It makes the never ending playground style wars of C64 versus Spectrum seem positively rapturous in comparison.

IO & An attempt to keep blogging…

Well, I’m still busy over on RR - luckily Codex is nearing the end of the road for the showcase, of which he’s done a sterling job so far. I’m still not entirely sure I’m happy with the look (which is my doing, not the hand of The Codex) but thats easily tweaked once we start getting a few beta testers in to have a nose around.

Me, I’m stuck doing mundane rubbish like fixing the odd broken bit of the site here and there (tonights exciting tasks included “return the disappearing navigation” - its scintillating stuff, I tells thee) and making sure that all the upgrades are in place and all is smooth in RR world. Its very dull stuff, and made worse by the fact its mainly under the bonnet work so there’s not even much you can sit back afterwards and say “I did that” about.

Need to get STomps to take a look at something at the weekend then I think I can start to rest easy again once that’s out the way.

Mega chuffed with the response to the forum supporter scheme, this months hosting has been paid off and I’ve still got a chunk left over to go towards next months once I’ve covered the Photoplog renewal thats due up. I’ve got a few idea’s for some extra stuff we can sling in for subscribers (and it really is extra stuff, I have no intention of limiting the site content in any way) but need to get a little bit of bumph sorted on the forums with STomps before I think about anything as something I added singly failed to work.

Arsecast v6

July 23, 2007 · Filed Under Podcasts · 3 Comments

Another month, another new Arsecast. And its back to the podcast format, with a sweary twist.

Which can only mean that its an audio sandwich with myself and Graham as the bread and masturbation jokes as the filling. Make of that what you will.

A huge and whopping disclaimer comes with the premier of the new Arsecast format and that can be pretty much summed up with the phrase: “I think this might need some work”.

Due to technical hitches we were a week late, by which point we’d forgotten most of what was going to get a mention, so 8 pages of notes couldn’t save me and the features section I don’t think really works, I’d even go as far to say as it doesn’t even come close to working. So, for the next one we’ve got a lot of tightening up to do and just stick to news and the old Arsecast format, but with half the workload for Graham.

Its not that its bad, just not what I personally go for in a podcast and I think Graham agree’s.

So, Arsecast Beta then… contains mental images you might need brain bleach to remove and a Hitler joke or two. I’m sure there’s something about games amidst the guff as well but I’m damned if I can remember.
