Well, I’m still busy over on RR - luckily Codex is nearing the end of the road for the showcase, of which he’s done a sterling job so far. I’m still not entirely sure I’m happy with the look (which is my doing, not the hand of The Codex) but thats easily tweaked once we start getting a few beta testers in to have a nose around.

Me, I’m stuck doing mundane rubbish like fixing the odd broken bit of the site here and there (tonights exciting tasks included “return the disappearing navigation” - its scintillating stuff, I tells thee) and making sure that all the upgrades are in place and all is smooth in RR world. Its very dull stuff, and made worse by the fact its mainly under the bonnet work so there’s not even much you can sit back afterwards and say “I did that” about.

Need to get STomps to take a look at something at the weekend then I think I can start to rest easy again once that’s out the way.

Mega chuffed with the response to the forum supporter scheme, this months hosting has been paid off and I’ve still got a chunk left over to go towards next months once I’ve covered the Photoplog renewal thats due up. I’ve got a few idea’s for some extra stuff we can sling in for subscribers (and it really is extra stuff, I have no intention of limiting the site content in any way) but need to get a little bit of bumph sorted on the forums with STomps before I think about anything as something I added singly failed to work.

But! All is not grim… Mr Smila has been banging away with the assistance of Scottige and Infamous to present his take on the C64 shooter IO. I’ll confess, I’ve not had much time to tuck in properly and so far, I’ve not even seen the end of level one boss - pretty much like the original there, then. Only at least this time, its only time stopping me.

You can grab it from here.

No Rodent article from me this month, I’ve not had time to fire over my questions to MattV of Hermit Games yet, mainly because the ability to think of anything but RR is eluding me right now. However, had a peek at the beta of Fren-Ze thats tucked away on the Hermit Games forums and its looking very nice. Other than that, I’m trying to break into the Top 10 on Burn The Trash and failing. Managed to edge ahead of Bill though…well, at least until he catches me up anyway ;)

If you’ve not checked the game out yet, then do so. Its punk as fuck and, if you’ll excuse me quoting MooBaa from WotR here: “That’s really quite magnificent. Lovely feel to the game - a calculated roughness that feels like that thick, heavy, fibrous paper. Plus, it’s fucking fun.”. I concur heartily, its a gem of a game.

Despite the comment about “buying a better computer” on the IO remake page, it works fine on Ubuntu Linux 7.07 using the latest version of Wine.

(Well, ok. There’s a slowdown issue in some places, but I think that’s related to my sound driver emulation setting.)

Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Heh, sorry - I was only on the wind up.

Especially considering this house will be taking receipt of a Mac soon I can’t really talk.

Cheap shots I know but glad to hear its working fine. :-)

Oooh! A Mac (heh heh as he laughs insidiously) now I won’t be the only one on RR who uses one (and huffs when he has to use Bootcamp to fire up G-Force!)

Perhaps BlitzMax is in your future?
