…World of Goo is the first, obviously. But you already knew that, right readers? High Voltage have just announced an interesting looking game called Gyrostarr - which from the video looks like a curious mix of Tempest (obviously, this is a good thing) and Kenta Cho’s Torus Trooper (also a very good thing).
I’ve lamented before how grim a lot of the Wiiware line up is looking to date, so it’s nice to know that there is possibly something out there to look forward to other than 2dBoy’s fine offering.
Interestingly though, this isn’t the first time High Voltage have approached the Tempest formula. Eagle eyed readers will already be aware that they’re responsible for the controversial if you’re Jeff Minter* Tempest X3 and the Saturn and Mac ports of Minter’s Tempest 2000. Both of which, whilst not a patch on the work of the mighty Yak weren’t ‘arf bad at all.
As usual with Wii games, it looks a bit mup static but from the video on the IGN preview - the game looks quite exhilarating. Whether it’s as clever or as well balanced as Space Giraffe we’ll have to wait and see, but no offence to High Voltage… I can’t see it myself.
Download and play Tempest Remakes
*…and if I’d been stiffed on royalty payments by a rename and slight shift of the game (allegedly), I’d be miffed too.

Ah, but we are forgetting the bound to be brilliant Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. Regerdless, it’s so lovely seeing you all up and blogging really. Wish I had the time to keep up my friend…
If it has Videlectrix games, I’m sold. They can make the main game as tedious as they like providing they can sling in something as genius as “Where’s An Egg?”.
