Games You Should Play: Playpen

Everyone should be able to build their own world. Everyone should be able to create. Playpen is a major step along that road.

To sell it short, it’s a wiki world. A mass collaborative explore-a-thon. A mass collaborative draw-a-thon. A mass collaborative adventure. If you can imagine it and translate it to a doodle, it can exist. You can make your world exist. Go crazy, go tangential, edit what others have already done. World build. The only thing between you and getting it out there is a black box on the screen. You have the tool now, there’s nothing stopping you.

Playpen is important because it makes creating easy. It makes building your own adventure easy. It makes telling a story easy. It’s not limited in scope like Sleep Is Death, mired in the nerdscape of RPG’s and reliant on one person as a storyteller, Playpen is for anyone and everyone. Anyone and everyone should be allowed to do this stuff. There’s no props, no time limits, no goal, no end. Just creation and exploration.

Go there now and let your imagination run riot. Or just spend some time looking around at the world some of us have already created but most of all be careful when talking to ducks about poetry. You never know where you might end up.

    Rob,

How many, erm.. ‘roosters’ have you drawn in Playpen so far?

C’mon Rob, we can track your IP address, so you might as well ‘fess up.
