Tough round up this time round as most of what I’ve been reading recently seems to be irritating me greatly. Perhaps I’m just more irritable than usual or perhaps folks are just putting really irritating stuff out there. Lord knows.

Anyway, onwards…

Warioware DIY.

I need to get this pretty pronto. Really, I do. I was already sold on it but Anna’s write up? Now totally sold.

International Deathchase Day

Every day is International Deathchase Day in this house.

Michael Pachter. Nostradamus Or Cunt?

Y’know, I love videogame writing. I really do. I mentioned in my last post about dropping a version of Squid Harder exclusive to PC:Gamer UK because I value wot they do. I’ve just chucked over a new version which I recoded in GM8 over the past few days for the Kill Screen folks to include as part of their thank ye pack to their Kickstarter donators and reading this J Nash masterclass was a good reminder as to why I have this love.

However, I detest the way that a certain segment of games journalism has now become about discussing SKU’s and other “shop” terms that no mortal man should endure. But most of all, I detest “x analyst says this bollocks about y topic” padding.

Industry analysts? They’re for the money men. If I see it in MCV or GI.biz or something, I can understand it. On mainstream games sites? Get to fuck with that. Let’s talk about games. Games are good.

Stop wasting my time with “man plucks stuff out of his arse that’s of no relevance to anyone” and write about fucking games. And I don’t mean a blow up doll of a zombie or some shit you got sent by x PR company either. Actual games.

See also “unboxing hardware” posts. They can fuck off too.

I warned you I was irritable at the moment…

RPS do 1993. As if it’s today.

Most enjoyable. And did I mention RPS write about games?

The Muppets: Stand By Me

Two of my favourite things in less than two minutes.

Less Talk More Rock.

Fuck rock.

“What we are basically saying is, if you have anything in you, anything unique, what others might term as originality, it will come through whatever the component parts used in your future Number One are made up from.”

Black Monday At Denki Towers

You know what? When what Denki do isn’t seen as normal something has seriously got fucked up along the way.

Here’s hoping for those caught up in the downsizing good things await elsewhere and that for Denki, the future looks a little brighter with the new model.

As my good friend Ian Price put it so succinctly earlier, “Whilst Denki still exists (even in a smaller form), there is still hope.”

  1. how different are the magazine SYNSOs? rearranged levels?

i actually found a copy of the April UK PC Gamer here in Toronto, but it was $22… i left with Retro Gamer for $17 instead!

so what do you think of the ‘indie games’ compilation on the PCG disc? worth the import price? wonder if much of it would run on my Pentium 4

  2. It’s just visual so nah, not worth it just for that.

I’ll bung the version out in a few weeks anyway so I wouldn’t worry.
